Direct Speech shows the exact words spoken. These words are placed inside quotation marks (" ").
She said, “I am going to the market.”
Reported Speech (or Indirect Speech) reports what someone said without using their exact words.
She said that she was going to the market.

“I love pizza,” said Max. → Max said that he loved pizza.
“We are happy,” they said. → They said they were happy.
“I can swim,” said Anna. → Anna said that she could swim.
